It is 1842, and while visiting the court of the young Queen Victoria, Ada Lovelace (Gemma Arterton) is kidnapped by a band of robed warriors with strange, supernatural powers. Their actions catch the notice of an ancient order of warriors sworn to protect the British throne, who dispatch one of their number, Gideon Drake (Michael Fassbender) to find Ada. Accompanying him is Jeremiah Bone, a bare-knuckle boxer with mysterious psychic powers (Tom Hardy) who may hold the key to tracking her down. But as they cross Europe in search of Ada, she is struggling to escape the clutches of the strange cult who took her and their terrifying leader (Tim Roth). What is the purpose of the strange equation they are forcing her to solve? How does it relate to the ancient ruins where they make their home?
