Should anyone ever say “But what is it that makes the Mountain Goats so special when you’ve no interest in many bands that I think are pretty similar?” it is totally acceptable to answer “Rooms full of people singing ‘I hope you die, I hope we both die’. Rooms full of people reaching down to a place that maybe they’ve been before, and maybe they haven’t, but a place that we all know exists where the people we once (or perhaps currently) loved the most become the people we most want violently removed from this earth, and expressing that in the most joyful voice they have.”

It is not the whole picture, by any means, but it’s a good star. And goddamnit I love this song and godfuckingdamnit I love the Mountain Goats.
